The Octopus website

Elegance and functionality

We've been working with Octopus to realise their brand, brochure and website. The website is almost complete, were just waiting for the new images of the boat and villa and we can then set the site live. The site is powered by the Fusion CMS, our easy to use content management system, giving Octopus the ability to amend or add new content to their site whenever required.

Brand New Qais Flash Videos

Users can quickly establish if the information on the page is what they are looking for.

Qais LeadershipWe’ve just launched new section videos for Qais. These were based around the initial home page movie and help lead the user into the section providing a brief introduction to the page. It was a very collaborative process with the client, they selected each video after some discussions on ideas and we recommended that the video stopped on still image so not to detract from the actual content on the page. Click the image to view one of the section videos.

nFlow User Personalisation

Allowing nFlow to personalise their product and information offering.

Personalise ContentnFlow were looking to display content specific to their target audience categories… Through Fusion, our Content Management System we developed design templates and a method to differentiate content by user selection. The user could either login or select their industry sector that changes the content and design of the pages to suit the users requirements. This has allowed nFlow to personalise their product and information offering, which helps them establish specific messages and build their brand within these sectors and in turn boost sales.

Octopus Brochure Design

Below is the first set of Octopus designs
Ocotopus Initial 1
Ocotopus Initial 2From these we have now developed the chosen idea further with the finalised logo (which we all love) and have had some great feedback. We think we are really producing an elegant, luxury brand that will appeal to their target audience.

We’ve finalised the Octopus logo!! After several discussions and meetings with regard to brand and company positioning we set to generate approximately 10 different designs, some of these are below.
Lots of Octopus Logos

This gave the client direction and opinion on their vision behind the logo, proving a platform for discussion, they selected two designs they wished to combine for development for the final logo. Two octopus logos

The feedback to follow these selections; they were looking for Octopus illustrations rather than the more abstract designs, felt the use of tentacles were more elegant, they agreed that the Octopus shouldn't have an eye(s) and they liked the serif and traditional feel. Taking all this away we crafted a new icon and logotype below.Initial Logo

From this we began to refine the logo with much to and froing between octopus and ourselves. Strangely between this period, they decided they wanted to remove all the serifs from the logotype and recreate some of the swirls on the other letters which provided them with their finalised design. Great News, they love it and we’re really looking forward to seeing this logo in large format on the sail of their luxury chartered yacht!!Final octopus Logo

It's always a great pleasure and privilege to work with a start-up company and we pride ourselves in being able to offer a wide range of services to give new businesses the perfect start.

We've been hired by a great new company called Octopus who will be providing tailored, dream holidays combined with luxury, chartered yachting experiences in the Caribbean. Our work for them includes full brand and identity development, glossy brochure and stationery design and a website built on our Fusion Content Management System.

It's still early days, but we're already well underway in establishing their brand and company identity and have just reached the second stage in their logo design.
Here's a sneaky peek at some of the initial logo developments from our design process:

Yesterday we uploaded three initial Essex Outdoors home page designs onto our review server,
here are the thumbnails:

Some of our clients can take several weeks gathering feedback from colleagues, friends and family. We use that time to develop some or all of the website, so it doesn't mean development halts. This morning however, we had a new record! The guys at Essex Outdoors have had a meeting about the designs, have got some feedback and Brett's meeting them Monday to discuss it through.

There are many different processes we go through when designing our clients' sites, sometimes we apply a small sub-set, other times we apply a lot more. Either way the output can be very varied: sometimes the differences in the design set can be very subtle, usually when the client requires a small site and has an existing brand, and other times the designs can be very different, if for example we're re-branding a client's business.

In the case of Essex Outdoors the initial home page designs are quite varied, as their site's functionality and structural requirements are fairly complex. This gives us plenty of scope to explore a wide range of potential solutions and offer them more choice on their final design.
